One time when my son was about ten, we were walking in the middle of the street. A cop called out on his car speaker for us to get on the sidewalk. I had attitude and as he pulled close I said something about not needing to move off a quiet street. He got angry, slammed on his breaks got out of his car and started giving me a hard time. I told him once again that I didn’t see a problem. I still had attitude. He was angry. Soon, he just told me he should give me a ticket but he wouldn’t and got back in his car.
White male, white son, upper middle class part of town. White privilege is real whether you believe or not.
